Our next general meeting July 16, 2010
Dr. Cord Offerman will give a talk on the natural history, captive husbandry, nutrition, veterinary issues, captive breeding and hatchling care of pyxidea mouhotti.
Cord is originally from the Northeast, calling Long Island, NY home. Prior to moving to Texas in 2003, Cord lived in Fort Collins, CO and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University. He now lives in Austin, TX with his wife, two children and a multitude of pets. He is currently in private practice at Kyle Animal Hospital. Personally and professionally he has had a long term interest in reptiles, with a special interest in turtles and tortoises. His current work includes reptile medicine, captive reproductions of privately held turtle and tortoise species and "Breeder Loan" projects with endangered species from the Gladys Porter Zoo and Zoo Atlanta. His ongoing endeavors include spending time with his family,supporting his children's activities, bicycling and exercise and pursuing a board certification in reptile medicine.
